Twitter now allows users to delete followers without blocking them

Twitter is working on a new feature that will allow users to delete certain followers without having to block them. Last month, Twitter announced on its support page that it would be testing the feature allowing users to create their own list of followers. After testing the feature with a limited number of people, Twitter is now ready to roll out the update.

How to remove followers from Twitter?

Previously, if users wanted to remove followers from their Twitter page, they had to block them completely. Now you can easily remove specific people. To remove a follower from your page, simply do the following:
Load your profile and click followers.

  • Scroll through the list until you happen upon the desired name (or manually search the handle via the search bar).
  • Click the three dot icon next to the following button that appears near the name of the follower.
  • Select the remove follower option from the list that appears.

Twitter’s new privacy updates

According to Bloomberg, Twitter is also working on other updates to improve your privacy. These include the following:

Archived tweets: Twitter is considering hiding tweets after a certain number of days, such as 30, 60, or 90 days. There is no confirmation yet that this feature will be introduced, but it will certainly help hide problematic tweets from the past.
Hide tweets you’ve liked: Twitter will also allow users to hide information about tweets they have liked. The company has not announced whether this feature will be tested soon.
Leaving conversations: Twitter will also allow users to opt-out of public conversations in which they do not wish to participate. The company is reportedly testing this feature before the end of the year.

What do you think of these new privacy updates? Do you think they will destroy the sense of accountability online, or will they help create a more positive space? Let us know in the comments.
